The Universe of Blessings

If we pause and ponder over the universe, we will see blessings unfolding at every level — from galaxies suspended in space to the smallest living cell in our body. Modern science has uncovered countless of these arrangements, making us more aware than ever of how intricately God has provided for us. Yet, instead of gratitude, many fall deeper into heedlessness, denial, and ingratitude.

The Illusion of Effort

It is often said that a farmer contributes less than 1% to the production of crops. While he works hard in ploughing, sowing, and harvesting, the truth is that 99% of the process depends on sunlight, soil, water, air, and countless other natural systems. The lesson is clear: our efforts are only a drop in the ocean of divine arrangements.

Signs in the Human Body

The same truth is visible within us. The stomach functions like a factory, with millions of microorganisms aiding digestion. Every time we eat, we unknowingly rely on systems designed by God. From transportation and animals to fruits, discoveries, and even the internet — all are encompassed in the scope of these verses, reminding us that every branch of science is but a commentary on God’s signs.

Nails, Hair, and Forgiveness

Even our nails and hair testify to divine wisdom. They act as “dustbins” that expel dead cells, protecting and beautifying the body when trimmed. Reflecting on this can deepen our understanding of God’s mercy: just as He transforms dead cells into what is removed and purified, He can transform sins into good deeds. Such reflection should move us to pray: “O Allah, convert our sins into good deeds as You convert our dead cells into purity.”

The Vastness of the Heavens

Consider the sun — 1.4 million times bigger than the earth — and countless celestial bodies even greater. If any one of them descended upon the earth, life would end in an instant. Even a landslide is enough to paralyze a city; how then can we ignore the immense power above us?

Awe of the Cosmos

Maulana Wahiduddin Khan would often keep a picture of the solar system before him. Whenever he looked at it, tears of awe filled his eyes. This same spirit is captured in the famous dialogue between Inayatullah Mashriqi and Sir James Jeans, as recounted in God Arises: true knowledge of the universe should not lead to arrogance, but to humility and surrender before the Creator.
