The Race for Material Acquisition
Worldly assets end here. Their questions begin there. The wise person remembers this before the journey ends.
Chasing More and More
Modern life pulls us into a constant pursuit — more money, more property, more status. A person keeps adding to his material assets, convinced that each gain takes him closer to success. Yet, when death reaches him, he suddenly realizes the opposite — that every worldly increase only added to his burden of accountability before God.
A Divine Reminder
The Qur’an addresses this illusion directly:
“Greed for more and more distracted you
until you reached the grave…
Then you will surely be questioned concerning the worldly blessings you enjoyed.”
– Surah At-Takathur (102:1-8)
These verses awaken us to a stark truth: material accumulation can blind us, until reality strikes at the grave.
The World: A Test, Not a Playground
This world appears like a grand banquet, full of dazzling attractions. But these blessings are not meant for unchecked indulgence — they are part of a test. The wise use them only as needed, with caution, gratitude, and responsibility.
Yet most people allow desire and competition to overpower them. Morning and evening, they remain consumed by material pursuits — until suddenly life ends, and they arrive in a world where only character and deeds matter.
The Moment of Realization — Too Late
Death exposes the greatest human misunderstanding — what truly deserved to be collected was not wealth, but faith, humility, patience, and good deeds. But realization after death has no benefit. What one worked so hard to gather turns out to be of no use at all.
More Wealth, More Accountability
With every worldly gain, accountability grows. But a person lost in material race mistakes accumulation for success. True success, however, lies not in gathering possessions — but in gathering inner richness: gratitude, God-consciousness, sincerity, and preparation for the Hereafter.
A Final Reminder
Worldly assets end here. Their questions begin there.
The wise person remembers this before the journey ends.
